Orioles lose to Tigers 6-2

The Detroit Tigers took on the the Baltimore Orioles yesterday at Comerica Park with the Tigers coming out on top 6 to 2. It was a solid match that aficionados with Tigers tickets won’t soon forget. Not much compares to America’s Pastime so stock up on cheap baseball tickets and see all the fun live.

Tigers pitcher Justin Verlander (3.48 ERA) got the win, while Mike Gonzalez (5.50 ERA) took the loss for the Orioles. Justin Verlander went 8 solid innings for the Tigers, allowed 5 hits, no home runs and 2 earned runs with one walk and 11 strikeouts. Also pitching for the Tigers was Phil Coke (2.88). The Orioles’s starter Chris Tillman went 6.2 innings, allowed one hit, no home runs and one earned run with 6 walks and 4 strikeouts. David Hernandez (4.67), and Alfredo Simon (4.98) also pitched for the Orioles. With the win, Verlander’s record goes to 16-8, while Gonzalez is at 0-3.

In addition to the 6 runs, the Tigers scored 5 hits and committed no errors. It wasn’t a huge day for anyone at the plate for the Tigers, as nobody managed more than 2 hits. Alex Avila had a tough day at the plate, leaving 4 runners on base. The Orioles didn’t have anyone with a big night with not one batter getting more than 2 hits. The Orioles scored 2 runs, 5 hits and no errors.

Umpiring duties were performed by Derryl Cousins, Mike Estabrook, Jim Joyce and Marvin Hudson. There were 24,170 Tigers ticket holders in attendance at Comerica Park.
