The Detroit Tigers vaporized the Kansas City Royals yesterday at Comerica Park with the Tigers earning the win 9 to 1. It was one heck of a game that devotees with Tigers tickets will definitely cherish. Baseball isn’t the only game in town. See what other cheap sports tickets are out there.
Tigers pitcher Rick Porcello (5.43 ERA) got the win, while Kyle Davies (5.41 ERA) took the loss for the Royals. Rick Porcello went 7 solid innings for the Tigers, allowed 2 hits, no home runs and no earned runs with one walk and 4 strikeouts. Also pitching for the Tigers was Daniel Schlereth (6.43), and Ryan Perry (4.40). The Royals’s starter Kyle Davies went 4.2 innings, allowed 12 hits, one home run and 7 earned runs with 3 walks and 5 strikeouts. Kanekoa Texeira (4.48), and Dusty Hughes (4.47) also pitched for the Royals. With the win, Porcello’s record goes to 6-11, while Davies is at 6-8.
In addition to the 9 runs, the Tigers scored 16 hits and committed no errors. Jhonny Peralta led the Tigers in hitting with 3 hits, followed by Brennan Boesch’s 2 hits, and Ryan Raburn with 2. The Royals didn’t have anyone with a big night with not one batter getting more than 2 hits. The Royals got one run, 3 hits and no errors.
Umpiring duties were performed by Jim Reynolds, Bill Welke, Mike DiMuro and Tim Welke. There were 29,043 Tigers ticket holders in attendance at Comerica Park.
