Tigers defeat Orioles at Comerica Park

The Detroit Tigers did battle with the the Baltimore Orioles yesterday at Comerica Park with the Tigers victorious 12 to 9. You don’t often see such high scoring games, and anyone with Tigers tickets sure got their money’s worth. This high-scoring game saw the teams combine for a whopping 21 runs! Talk about excitement!

Tigers pitcher Eddie Bonine (2.75 ERA) got the win, while Mark Hendrickson (5.52 ERA) took the loss for the Orioles. Andrew Oliver went 1.2 innings for the Tigers, allowed 4 hits, no home runs and 5 earned runs with one walk and one strikeout. Also pitching for the Tigers was Brad Thomas (4.10), Ryan Perry (5.32), Phil Coke (2.67), and Jose Valverde (1.00). The Orioles’s starter Kevin Millwood went 1 innings, allowed 4 hits, no home runs and 5 earned runs with 2 walks and one strikeout. Koji Uehara (4.50), Matt Albers (5.35), and David Hernandez (4.40) also pitched for the Orioles. With the win, Bonine’s record goes to 4-0, while Hendrickson drops to 1-4.

Brandon Inge provided much of the offense for the Tigers with an incredible 4 runs batted in. In addition to the 12 runs, the Tigers put up 17 hits and committed 2 errors. Brandon Inge, Carlos Guillen and Johnny Damon all got 3 hits for the Tigers. Alex Avila had a tough day at the plate, leaving 6 runners on base. Julio Lugo and Jake Fox tied for most hits for the Orioles with 3, followed by Matt Wieters with 2 hits. Cesar Izturis could not get much going at the plate as he left 5 runners on base. The Orioles mustered 9 runs, 14 hits and one error.

Umpiring duties were performed by Rob Drake, Joe West, Angel Hernandez and Dan Bellino. There were 26,432 Tigers ticket holders in attendance at Comerica Park.
