The Detroit Tigers took on the the Texas Rangers yesterday at Comerica Park with the Tigers coming out on top 4 to 1. It was a solid match that aficionados with Tigers tickets won’t soon forget. Not much compares to America’s Pastime so stock up on cheap baseball tickets and see all the fun live.
Tigers pitcher Max Scherzer (4.43 ERA) got the win, while Colby Lewis (3.52 ERA) took the loss for the Rangers. Max Scherzer went 7 solid innings for the Tigers, allowed 4 hits, no home runs and no earned runs with 3 walks and 5 strikeouts. Also pitching for the Tigers was Phil Coke (2.45), and Jose Valverde (1.30). The Rangers’s starter Colby Lewis went 7 innings, allowed 9 hits, one home run and 4 earned runs with 2 walks and 5 strikeouts. Doug Mathis (6.33) also pitched for the Rangers. With the win, Scherzer’s record goes to 7-7, while Lewis is at 9-6.
In addition to the 4 runs, the Tigers scored 10 hits and committed one error. Austin Jackson led the Tigers in hitting with 3 hits, followed by Gerald Laird’s 2 hits. Brennan Boesch had a tough day at the plate, leaving 5 runners on base. The Rangers didn’t have anyone with a big night with not one batter getting more than 2 hits. The Rangers scored one run, 4 hits and 2 errors.
Umpiring duties were performed by Jim Wolf, Todd Tichenor, John Hirschbeck and Wally Bell. There were 28,704 Tigers ticket holders in attendance at Comerica Park.
