Rangers edge Tigers by 2

The Texas Rangers beat the Detroit Tigers in 13 innings yesterday in a hard-fought game of baseball. Each baseball game is different, and an MLB extra-innings game is always a possibility. It was a huge win that rooters with Rangers tickets aren’t likely to forget.

Rangers pitcher Matt Harrison (4.23 ERA) got the win, while Enrique Gonzalez (2.93 ERA) took the loss for the Tigers. Scott Feldman went 5 innings for the Rangers, allowed 7 hits, 3 home runs and 5 earned runs with 2 walks and one strikeout. Also pitching for the Rangers was Dustin Nippert (5.36), Darren O’Day (1.40), Alexi Ogando (1.42), and Frank Francisco (3.92). The Tigers’s starter Jeremy Bonderman went 5.1 innings, allowed 9 hits, one home run and 5 earned runs with 2 walks and 2 strikeouts. Robbie Weinhardt (5.87), Jose Valverde (1.11), Phil Coke (2.52), and Ryan Perry (4.71) also pitched for the Tigers. With the win, Harrison’s record goes to 2-1, while Gonzalez drops to 0-1. Neftali Feliz earned the save for the Rangers, bringing his saves up to 25.

Nelson Cruz provided much of the offense for the Rangers with an incredible 4 runs batted in. In addition to the 8 runs, the Rangers put up 19 hits and committed 3 errors. Josh Hamilton led the Rangers in hitting with 4 hits, followed by Nelson Cruz’s 3 hits, and Julio Borbon with 2. Chris Davis had a tough day at the plate, leaving 7 runners on base. Miguel Cabrera had the most hits for the Tigers (3), followed by Ramon Santiago (2), and Austin Jackson (2). Miguel Cabrera could not get much going at the plate as he left 5 runners on base. The Tigers mustered 6 runs, 13 hits and 2 errors.

Umpiring duties were performed by John Hirschbeck, Wally Bell, Jim Wolf and Todd Tichenor. There were 26,626 Tigers ticket holders in attendance at Comerica Park.
